Course Fee: Free
Certificate Cost: 750.00 USD

Course Description

This course is made available through the eLearnAfrica and Edx partnership.

The Capstone is the last step to complete the Leadership in Global Development MicroMasters Credential and is designed to test knowledge and skills gained in these four courses:

  • LGDM1x Leaders in Global Development

  • LGDM2x The Science & Practice of Sustainable Development

  • LGDM3x Adaptive Leadership in Development

  • LGDM4x Critical Development Perspectives

This assessment is one of the eligibility criteria for admission to the on-campus Master of Leadership in Global Development program at the University of Queensland.

On successful completion of the 4 courses and the Capstone you will be awarded the MicroMasters credential.

The Capstone will involve two graded pieces of assessment and a task to demonstrate ownership and originality of your work.

Firstly, a 30 question, multiple choice, open book exam. You have 90 minutes to complete the exam, which is worth 30% of the overall grade. The exam includes questions that have been drawn from across the four LGDM MOOCs. The exam will be available throughout the 3 week duration of the Capstone and you will be able to undertake the exam at any point. However, once you begin the exam you will have 90 minutes to complete it.

The second assessment task requires the development of a 3000 word project or program proposal, worth 70% of the overall grade. You will be provided with a choice of three different case studies. You will need to identify one of the development challenges outlined in your chosen case study and develop a proposal for a project or program designed to addressing the chosen development challenge. You will be provided with scaffolding around how to structure the proposal and guidance around the information that should be included. Students will also be provided with the marking criteria that will be used by the instructors to grade the submission.

In addition to these graded components, you are also required to prepare and video record a three minute spoken presentation, pitching your project or program to a fictitious donor organisation. While this video task is not assessable, it is a mandatory requirement. The objective of this video task is for you to demonstrate that you have a deep and thorough understanding of your proposal. This is a mechanism to maintain academic integrity providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate that their written submission is their own original work.

Certificate cost may vary. You will be redirected to the host page for cost and payment options.
