Get a headstart in the world of teaching with this introductory course

The PGCE is a postgraduate certificate in education that proves your credentials as a teacher in England, and can also allow you to teach abroad.

As a potentially important qualification to gain, preparing yourself to study for it is important. On this course, you’ll examine the academic literature around what teaching and learning in schools look like.

Based on the University of Warwick’s successful PGCE programme, you’ll learn observational teaching skills – along with key legal knowledge – that will stand you in great stead for the PGCE to come.

This course is aimed at anyone who has accepted a place on an UK based PGCE course, and is appropriate for primary and secondary trainee teachers and for all subject disciplines. You are welcome to join if you have accepted a place on another teacher training course, or are interested in joining the teaching profession.

Certificate cost may vary. You will be redirected to the host page for cost and payment options.

The University of Warwick

The University of Warwick is globally connected, forward-looking and entrepreneurial. It creates new ways of thinking and achieving, making it stand out from its competitors and the more ‘traditional universities’ and creating an inspiring place to study and undertake research.

Warwick is one of the UK’s great success stories. In less than fifty years since being founded it has become one of the UK’s best universities, consistently at the top of UK league tables and rapidly climbing the international league tables of world class universities.

The University champions independent thinking and as well as being founded, first and foremost, on academic excellence, a key driver of the Warwick success story so far is its entrepreneurial spirit. A key strength is its relevance to society and close links with business and industry. Companies tap into Warwick knowledge to develop their own strengths and ensure they remain at the cutting edge within their industries. And that cutting edge insight is developed out of truly world class research: Warwick ranks 7th overall in the UK according to the latest Research Assessment Exercise.

To understand how Warwick has come so far in such a short space of time is to understand the character of the University. The success of Warwick, underpinned by innovation, entrepreneurialism and academic excellence, is driven by the exceptional talent of its staff, students and alumni.
