Discover inspiring ways to help develop literacy using still and moving images
Recent research has shown that using still and moving images in the classroom can have a sustainable, positive impact on young people’s literacy skills.
On this course, specially designed for teachers, you will learn how to use images, including images of the self (‘selfies’), to create extended writing, creative narrative, poetry and pupil made films and animations.
You will explore a range of lesson activity ideas, get access to resources that you can use straightaway in your lessons, and get advice and insights from film education experts at Into Film.
This course is designed for teachers and educators who would like to develop their student’s reading and writing, although parents or anyone with an interest in developing young people’s literacy will also benefit from the approaches that are explored throughout the course.

Into Film
Into Film is a UK-wide film and education charity, which puts film at the heart of children and young people’s learning, contributing to their cultural, creative and personal development.
Its film clubs are available free to all state funded schools and colleges and provide numerous opportunities for teaching and learning through film, including access to a diverse catalogue of over 4,000 films, dynamic curriculum linked and enrichment resources, guidance for filmmaking and film reviewing, one-to-one club support and training and CPD for teachers.
In Scotland, Into Film runs a bespoke film education programme, created in collaboration with key arts and education organisations to support literacy across learning, enable the use of film across all areas of the Curriculum for Excellence and be accessible and appropriate for young people throughout Scotland.
Into Film incorporates the legacy of two leading film education charities, First Light and FILMCLUB, and will be working together with a range of partners in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Into Film is supported by the BFI, together with funding from the film industry and a number of other sources.

Abide by any and all requirements of the eLearnAfrica Participants as may regard the expectations of civil or academic behavior or of community standards.
VIOLATIONS
If you are found in violation of the Terms and Conditions or Honor Code, you may be subject to one or more of the following actions:

Receiving a zero or no credit for an assignment;

Having any certificate earned in the course withheld or revoked;

Being unenrolled from a course, learning program or degree program; or

Termination of your use of the App and/or Site.

Additional actions may be taken at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica and eLearnAfrica course providers.
No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations.
Honor code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica, the Partners, or Members. You will be notified if a determination has been made that you have violated this honor code and you will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken as a result of the violation.
