About Us

The Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (UPV) is a public educational institution that offers modern, flexible degrees designed to meet the demands of society, as well as official postgraduate programmes that are subject to demanding educational quality control systems.

 

It is the only Spanish technological University ranked among the best in the world, according to the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). It is also ranked among the 100 best universities in the world that are less than 50 years old (Times Higher Education Index).

 

Currently, its academic community comprises more than 36,000 students, almost 2,500 teachers and researchers, and 1,500 administration and services professionals. It is composed by three campuses, located in València, Alcoi and Gandia.

 

The UPV has emerged as a key player in the Spanish learning community. In this area, the UPV ranks #1 as regards the offer of life-long education, with more than 1,400 courses a year in all specialties, so that each student is able to shape their curriculum to meet their interests. The UPV also ranks #1 regarding the number of MOOC’s produced (openeducationeurope.eu) and has developed several well-known e-learning products. The UPV's video education channel gets more than 1M views a year.

 

The UPV is an innovative university that aims at developing creative and relevant ideas with an impact on society. That’s why the UPV includes the Ideas Institute, the first support program for university entrepreneurship in Spain, which has backed the creation of more than 400 companies since 1992.
