Use film and filmmaking to provide meaningful lessons in sustainability
Film is an engaging way to reach young people on any topic or subject, bringing important topics to life and adding context to learning.
With that in mind, Into Film presents this two-week course showing you how to teach learners aged 5 to 19 about sustainable practices using short films.
Besides using film for instruction, you’ll be guided on teaching the art of filmmaking itself, developing your skills to help students use their own voices on sustainability or anything else that’s important to them.
Explore sustainability-related topics using film
You’ll get full access to the films, clips, and student-made shorts used in this course, which all highlight sustainability topics.
Introducing film analysis gives you an effective place to start discussing these topics with your students. You’ll also be given practical exercises on different aspects of sustainability to complete throughout the course.
Discover and teach sustainable filmmaking
It’s important to give young people an active and creative opportunity to consolidate their learning.
On this course, you’ll learn basic filmmaking skills for simple but sustainable film productions. You’ll also hear from professional filmmakers using sustainable approaches on their sets.
Then, you’ll try your hand at simple filmmaking tasks, equipping you to work with your learners to create films for their future projects.

This course features contributions from directors of sustainable films as well as international organisation Eco-Schools, making this unique, hands-on experience even more beneficial.
This course is designed for educators who wish to explore sustainability with learners aged from 5 to 19, using film and filmmaking in their teaching.
Filmmakers looking to make their productions more sustainable will also find aspects of the course beneficial.

Into Film
Into Film is a UK-wide film and education charity, which puts film at the heart of children and young people’s learning, contributing to their cultural, creative and personal development.
Its film clubs are available free to all state funded schools and colleges and provide numerous opportunities for teaching and learning through film, including access to a diverse catalogue of over 4,000 films, dynamic curriculum linked and enrichment resources, guidance for filmmaking and film reviewing, one-to-one club support and training and CPD for teachers.
In Scotland, Into Film runs a bespoke film education programme, created in collaboration with key arts and education organisations to support literacy across learning, enable the use of film across all areas of the Curriculum for Excellence and be accessible and appropriate for young people throughout Scotland.
Into Film incorporates the legacy of two leading film education charities, First Light and FILMCLUB, and will be working together with a range of partners in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Into Film is supported by the BFI, together with funding from the film industry and a number of other sources.

Maintain only one user account and not let anyone else use my username and/or password.

Not engage in any activity that would dishonestly improve my results, or improve or hurt the results of others.

Not post answers to problems that are being used to assess student performance.

Abide by any and all requirements of the eLearnAfrica Participants as may regard the expectations of civil or academic behavior or of community standards.
VIOLATIONS
If you are found in violation of the Terms and Conditions or Honor Code, you may be subject to one or more of the following actions:

Receiving a zero or no credit for an assignment;

Having any certificate earned in the course withheld or revoked;

Being unenrolled from a course, learning program or degree program; or
-
Termination of your use of the App and/or Site.

Additional actions may be taken at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica and eLearnAfrica course providers.
No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations.
Honor code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica, the Partners, or Members. You will be notified if a determination has been made that you have violated this honor code and you will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken as a result of the violation.
CHANGING THE HONOR CODE

Any changes to this Honor Code will be effective immediately upon posting on this page, with an updated effective date.
