eLearnAfrica Guidelines
At eLearnAfrica, we believe that access to high-quality education is a human right. We also trust that internet-based solutions can make the fulfillment and enjoyment of this right easier and more efficient. Generally speaking, we believe that online education provides an additional platform for providing opportunities to students – a platform that can support traditional educational systems while creating additional means of reaching students.
Through our relationships, we seek to make available to students trustworthy, high-quality content for all stages of education, in all areas of academic, vocational, and professional activities.
The eLearnAfrica website and mobile application are designed with the interests of students and organizations in mind. For students, we aim to provide an intuitive, easy-to-use mechanism for learning about and selecting academic, vocational, and professional learning materials. We provide an internet-based platform for making available educational materials to students throughout Africa, in almost any language spoken on the continent. eLearnAfrica will redirect students interested in enrolling in a course to the website of the Client or a Client-determined third party: this way, the Client can process any payment or enrollment. eLearnAfrica provides its Clients and Partners with an easy-to-use Organizational (University) Profile page, content-management, and enrollment management systems. Our Clients are responsible for their content, and for providing the necessary support for and oversight of student activities.
Additional services and learning management systems may be available to certain Clients. Entering into a service agreement does not include these additional services, products, or facilitated access to other Clients, Partners, or Third Parties.
Client Profiles
Content providers must be academic institutions duly accredited in the country in which they primarily operate; or, be highly regarded providers of vocational or professional training materials (preferably, duly approved by organizations dedicated to overseeing training and professional standards in the industry(ies) in which they operate); non-governmental organizations providing content on the eLearnAfrica portal are expected to be well-regarded and duly registered in the country(ies) in which they operate.
While eLearnAfrica may determine (on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica) to enter into a relationship with an organization with some sort of religious affiliation, eLearnAfrica does not permit any materials that have any religious or proselytizing aim or intention. Courses of a religious or sectarian nature will not be hosted on eLearnAfrica.
eLearnAfrica does not hold or promote any partisan, policy-related, or political views. While eLearnAfrica may determine (on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica) to enter into a relationship with a Government Agency, eLearnAfrica does not permit any materials that have a partisan, electoral, or policy-based nature, or other form of political motivation. Any such relationship shall not be construed or interpreted to reflect or mean a recognition or support for that Government Agency or any political party, ideology, or governing system. Courses of a specific political or sectarian nature, or supportive or detractive of a political party or specific policy, will not be hosted on eLearnAfrica.
Expectations
eLearnAfrica expects that its Clients act in a highly professional manner at all times in their interactions with eLearnAfrica, its clients, students, and other end-users of the eLearnAfrica websites and mobile applications. This professionalism covers academic, financial, public relations, and general interactions. We expect our Clients, Partners, and Students to strive for the highest academic standards, and to hold their course instructors and students accountable from the perspective of academic behavior.
eLearnAfrica expects its Clients to work to provide high-quality courses and training materials. Course instructors should be duly and legally employed by the institution or organization under which they claim to operate. Administrators are responsible for overseeing the content provided in each course, and for the interactions of each course instructor. Clients are expected to immediately notify eLearnAfrica in writing (preferably via email) of the suspension, termination, or loss of professional credentials of any course instructor operating under the administration of that Client.
Any and all billing or payment system used by a Client is the responsibility of that Party. eLearnAfrica expects its Clients to operate any billing or payment system required in an honest, transparent, and trustworthy manner. We feel this is an important consideration, as we highly value the transparency of our operations. Any recommendation or advice about a specific billing system or a learning management system shall not be construed or interpreted to be an endorsement of that product or service. Clients are directly responsible for their interactions with these third parties (vendors, organizations, websites, service providers, or of any other nature) and with Students.
Users of the eLearnAfrica website and mobile application should be made aware of the policies related to these processes in a clear and easy-to-understand manner in writing prior to effectuating any billing or enrollment process. Refunds should be provided in a timely manner, at the discretion of the Client. eLearnAfrica will not be held responsible for any payment, failure to complete a payment, or refund related to the participation or non-participation of a user of the eLearnAfrica website or mobile application.
eLearnAfrica’s Commitments to its Clients
eLearnAfrica will strive to meet its commitments to its Clients based on professional, transparent, and courteous interactions. We aim to provide our Clients with the support they need to be successful on the eLearnAfrica websites and mobile application.
eLearnAfrica may host links to organizational websites for enrollment, bill payment, or access to didactic resources. eLearnAfrica may also directly host educational content or course materials.
eLearnAfrica will use its best judgment when increasing the visibility of certain courses (generally through the “Featured Courses” and “Courses Starting Soon” sections or other similar sections of the website and mobile application). eLearnAfrica may also decide to highlight courses through press releases and other interactions with media organizations. The determination of these courses will be made solely by eLearnAfrica, taking into account a number of factors, including (but not limited to): the number of times a course is viewed or enrolled in by students; the popularity of the course provider; our understanding of the need for wider awareness of the content; the employment opportunities that may be related to mastery of the course material, or other conditions as determined by eLearnAfrica. These selections may be changed at any time, at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica.
eLearnAfrica is committed to making available to some of its Clients and Partners basic analysis of data covering the usage of the website and/or mobile application. This analysis may cover topics such as: general usage of the website and/or mobile application (total page views); general information about user profiles (anonymous); views of introductory videos; course enrollments; course completion; and course ratings (as determined by the rating given by students who have enrolled in a given course). Where feasible, this information can be provided for a number of geographic areas. The general policy of eLearnAfrica is to analyze and present this data in such a way that the specific identity of any particular user is anonymous.
eLearnAfrica is also committed to expanding the variety of available content, especially from organizations and universities throughout Africa. While eLearnAfrica does not generally assume or contribute to covering the costs of course production, we may be able to help our Clients and Partners be in contact with organizations and companies that can assist our Clients and Partners with the design, creation, and maintenance of content.
