Discover the basics of Chinese sentence structure to help you communicate in Chinese and gain the knowledge of Chinese character
This course is made available through the eLearnAfrica and FutureLearn partnership.
On this five-week course, you’ll advance your study of the Chinese language as you begin to explore sentence structure.
This understanding will help you learn how to ask questions and the basic language techniques to express “can”, “how”, “want”, “would like” and “where”.
You’ll also learn to ask questions with the interrogative particle “ne”.
On the course, you’ll explore how to communicate the days of the week and months of the year.
You’ll also learn how to how to ask for and offer information about location, as well as discussing amounts of money. This knowledge will help you with the everyday interactions you could face when travelling in China.
As you start to construct sentences, you’ll learn more about sentence structure to help ensure you can clearly express your ideas.
You’ll discover serial verb constructions, how to structure an existential sentence, and using imperative sentences with “please”.
Throughout the course, you’ll hear from native speakers and language teaching professionals to explore both Chinese culture and language.
Whether you want to work, study, or travel in China, each interactive step of the course will ensure you finish with the knowledge and confidence to communicate in Chinese.
This course follow the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) curriculum and help you prepare for the HSK level 1 test.
This course is designed for anyone who would like to develop their basic knowledge of Chinese.
You don’t need any prior experience or knowledge. This course will help you develop your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Chinese.
It will be particularly useful if you are going to take the HSK level 1 test or for those who completed HSK 1.1.

Not post answers to problems that are being used to assess student performance.
Abide by any and all requirements of the eLearnAfrica Participants as may regard the expectations of civil or academic behavior or of community standards.
If you are found in violation of the Terms and Conditions or Honor Code, you may be subject to one or more of the following actions:
Receiving a zero or no credit for an assignment;
Having any certificate earned in the course withheld or revoked;
Being unenrolled from a course, learning program or degree program; or
Termination of your use of the App and/or Site.
Additional actions may be taken at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica and eLearnAfrica course providers.
No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations.
Honor code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of eLearnAfrica, the Partners, or Members. You will be notified if a determination has been made that you have violated this honor code and you will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken as a result of the violation.
