Gain the skills to research, design, and market a food product and develop your own successful business opportunity.
This course is made available through the eLearnAfrica and FutureLearn partnership.
Launching a food product involves in-depth planning, creativity, and knowledge of the market you’re trying to break into.
On this five-week course, you’ll discover how to plan and produce your very own product. With guidance from the International Culinary Studio, you’ll learn the intricacies of creating a food product and launching it into the local food market.
By exploring current food market trends, you’ll be able to identify any gaps in the market where your product could thrive.
You’ll use market research methods to develop your product ideas, collect feedback, and adapt your plan as you progress through production.
A number of processes involved in launching a food product may be missed by inexperienced entrepreneurs starting out in the food production industry.
On this course, you’ll be guided through every step to ensure you take advantage of each opportunity. You’ll learn how to develop prototypes, explore costing processes, and design branding, packaging, and labelling for your product.
Using consumer testing and pilots, you’ll create a final food product that reflects your target audience’s values, as well as your own brand identity.
Drawing on market research feedback throughout the process, you’ll design a detailed marketing plan to promote your product once it has been finalised, to reach target consumers.
By the end of this course you will understand how to develop, produce, and launch a food product, as well as having the skills to promote your product within the local market.
This course is designed for anyone who wants to develop and market their own food product, including shop owners and market traders.
