A lot of what most people know about Tourette’s is what we have seen in the media but in fact, Tourette’s presents itself very differently.
This two-week course from Tourettes Action will dispel lots of the myths that surround Tourette’s to show you the true reality of the neurological condition and how it affects those living it.
With this awareness, you’ll know how people with Tourette syndrome (TS) can be better understood and supported.
You’ll start by identifying the symptoms of Tourette’s, including motor and vocal tics.
Delving further into the different types of motor and vocal tics, you’ll discover how they are categorised into simple and complex forms. You’ll also gain an understanding of coprophenomena and how it is relevant to Tourette’s.
With an understanding of the symptoms of Tourette’s, you’ll be able to explore the impact these have on individuals.
You’ll study both the physical and emotional impacts of TS to help you gain insights into the challenges faced on both levels.
Finally, you’ll discover the different support available for people living with TS, as well as their family and friends.
By the end, you’ll be empowered with the knowledge to contribute to a more supportive and understanding community for individuals with Tourette syndrome.
