Course Description

This course is made available through the eLearnAfrica and FutureLearn partnership.

Discover techniques and best practices in fashion technology

From three-dimensional imaging to virtual prototyping programs, the fashion industry has benefitted greatly from a wide range of new technologies.

On this four-week course from the University of the Creative Arts, you’ll look in depth at one of these technologies, CLO 3D, and learn advanced skills and techniques to make the most of this revolutionary program.

Discover skills for detail construction and using virtual custom materials

An increasing number of fashion companies are moving into the virtual market and looking for designers who have virtual prototyping programs in their skill pack.

During the first two weeks of this course, you’ll explore how to virtually construct the details of different clothing designs using CLO 3D. Then, you’ll learn how to work with a variety of materials in the virtual space, from fur and knitwear to lace and washed denim.

Explore digital production and advanced presentation skills for your designs

When designing fashion virtually, you need to be able to modify and export your digital patterns and garments for production purposes.

You’ll look at the many production features of CLO 3D, such as the colorway function, seam allowance toolkit, and grading tools, before exporting the work.

This course will also guide you through advanced presentation skills, from custom 3d scenes to gravity simulators and animation.
