Explore GameFi with RMIT University

Game Finance, or GameFi, combines elements of blockchain technology, decentralised finance (DeFi), and gaming to create innovative business models and opportunities.

This five-week course from RMIT University provides a comprehensive overview of developments in GameFi. From the fundamentals of gaming in the era of Web3 to the uses of gaming technology within finance, you’ll gain the knowledge you need to navigate an exciting new financial landscape.

Examine the specificities of Web3 gaming

The course will start with an overview of gaming in Web3. You’ll learn how the latest digital technologies have influenced gaming, and what the advantages of these developments are for both gaming and finance.

You’ll also take a detailed look at two examples of Web3 games, Illuvium and Axie Infinity.

Understand the role of blockchain in gaming and GameFi

In the middle two weeks of the course, you’ll explore a range of cutting-edge digital developments transforming gaming, finance, and GameFi. Almost all of these developments are powered by blockchain.

From smart contracts and NFTs to decentralised finance and DAOs, you’ll cover crucial new technologies and their applications within GameFi.

Look to the future of GameFi in the metaverse and beyond

Once you’ve surveyed the lay of the land in Web3 Game Finance, you’ll begin looking towards the future of the field.

You’ll discuss how GameFi business models could transform our approach to finance, and how the development of the metaverse could revolutionise things again. You’ll also explore the gamification of areas beyond finance, including e-commerce.

Whether you’re an avid gamer or an aspiring finance professional, you’ll finish the course with the expertise you need to become a GameFi pioneer.

This course is designed for anyone interested in learning more about Web3, Game Finance, and the business opportunities offered by both.

To get the most out of this course, learners will need a basic understanding of blockchain technology, and an active interest in gaming, gamification and/or finance.
